A Bird in flight; A Human in Light.

I am a bird. I am free. A dove that can truly be. Blessed and high-ly, I am this little girlie.

Touch the skylight, with my wings of might, I am a bird, always in flight, I am only a human, so it be.

Nothing has stopped the birds from life, evolution and strength, comes from sometimes, running for your life.

In the light, in the Sun, stong and bright, this life is might.

Not all battles are won, fighting for the death of one. In this world, I am a bird, I fly high, with the Sun’s Rays of light.

The White Dove in me, is held up by the Brown Eagle that shadows the ground. I am the bird, always looking up.

I will fly.

I will touch the light.

Changes for Christmas

Now that Christmas has passed, it is time to plan for my near future.

I am visiting my sister in N.W. Arkansas. It is fun and exciting to be the main attraction for sister’s friends to enjoy. I have been welcomed with open arms as well as bright smiles.

I am also here with my son. While he is now a child-man (definition: a child who is the size of a man), I am finding myself looking at my baby continuously. He brings so much joy to my life. Makes me laugh when ever he can.

The change comes from the flight out of Kansas City, MO. I was supposed to fly out of Houston, but a last minute relationships status changed everything. After applying to over 70 jobs in Houston, I found myself wanting to remain in California and ditch my ever growing passion to be in Houston.

These changes have made me yet a stronger woman who can be thrown to the wolves and come out the leader. The next year will be my best because I can only grow from the changes this Christmas made.

Until next time,

Status Quo: Not so Quo

Today of all days, I am finally feeling the weight of life lift off my shoulders. My status as of now: Mom (always going to be a mom!), Student, derailed Gluten Free Vegetarian, Divorcee, and in debt.

With the latter looming over my thoughts like a bad dream, they have become a reality. I go to sleep each night, pushing back the thousands of pointless thoughts at that very moment. After a good 1-2 punch, I finally fall asleep. Tossing and turning, I wake myself up because I am remembering yet, one more thing to deal with when the business hours come alive.

Yesterday, I finally was able to file my divorce. I was so happy. Yes, happy. This was amazing. No lawyers, no contest, not even a penny was spent filing. The ability to do such a devastating event with grace and poise was an achievement all on its own. If all goes well, I will be free again by March 2017 of next year.

On top of the divorce, because now this whole court adventure has settled to the bottom, is being a student. one day, not too long ago, I had the ambition to doctor. While I still want to become this amazing renowned woman for her time, I also want a mental break. I will bachelor in May of 2017, and I will also become $25k in debt (not to mention the bad debt too). I am humbled to be a part of a wonderful world of educated people. I am not so grateful for the kind flaming bag of shit it left at my door step called: “Student Debt.” All in all, this is my next achievement: file a dispute to dissolve the loans! I will finish school and know that I am among a selection of people who have their Bachelor’s Degree and probably, debt.

With the debt comes responsibility: a classic JOB. I must turn my degree into a well paying CAREER. Not just the classic J.ust O.ver B.roke acronym. This is the tricky part. I want to move out of California. While I love the weather most of all, I do not love the cost of living. So, my job search has taken me to places suxh as, Texas, and possibly, Arkansas (where my Sissy lives). My Sissy is pleading with me on all angles to move to North West Arkansas. I, on the other hand, keep telling myself that Houston is the place to thrive. There I would have some of the top corporate careers to chase after and a cute cowboy!

Here’s comes my diet: derailed. That is the only answer I can give. I have let go my ambition to stand my ground and not let what others say affect my want of tasty food, get in my way! I learned that, I just need to eat less. A lot less. Small portions, and about 25k (there’s that number again…) steps a day. That’s where my PE job came into play. But, that job was so stressful, I made very bad choices. Some that I will never be proud of. That is where the divorce started (well marriage, then divorce, of course). Back to food, because that seems to be a better idea! My favorite thing to eat is everything. My favorite exercise: squats. Here’s to me keeping true to my goals.

Lastly, but surely not the least by all means, being a Mom. I miss my son each day he is away at school. While he is there, I feel as though I am the one who is away at school. For the first time in his young life, he is finally in a place where he can learn and get somewhere with his education. Every morning I wake up and feel the missing part of me: my child. Driving him to school was a ritual. We would talk about Happy things, and it would bring him to a place that no one could bring down. I miss those days.

At the end of each day, while I try and suppress my anxiety, I remember that is is always getting better. One more day to what I really want. And as for what I really want, I am not all that decided. I do know that I am very grateful to be myself and have the intellectual ability to thrive in the toughest situations.

My status quo is always changing. I know that if I control the changes, I have only myself to thank. Life is too short to live and not try. My life is more like a status, and not the quo.

Closer Than You Think

As I sit here, finalizing my last project for my Technology in the Classroom, I feel as though I have taken a huge step in the right direction.

This week, I learned how to create an amazing Google Lit Tour with Google Earth. I decided to take it a step further. I know that there are students out there who may not have the access to Google Earth. I was able to convert the file and upload the .kmz file to Camtasia and add music.

I also learned that I made a great decision when taking this course this winter. Technology in the Classroom is fun and exciting for me. I have grown up understanding technology and web 2.0 tools most of my life. This course helped me bring together what I know about teaching with technology and taught me how to utilized them both.

With this winter term coming to an end, I am that much closer to graduating this coming fall.

Some Stress is Just Not Natural, Even for a College Student!

What a difference one week can make.

This week, I experienced more than I wanted to bargain for. While time management was a major priority last week, this week it might take second when it came to my stress levels. What makes the stress so prominent now rather in the past was for the fact that it was something not to stress over when it was all said and done. I guess fear in the unexpected makes us think that there is something there that was never there to begin with. When I was faced with this situation, I thought the worst and I was only able to imagine my life changed forever. In the end, this was not the case and I was able to get back on course. I have been able to look at this moment in my life with gratitude and know that it is only as bad as I can make it. I also learned that I need to make the best out of my situations no matter how awful or amazing they are. Taking the change of situation with stride is probably the only way to respond to just about anything imaginable.

With all of that being said, I can say that the homework just may be simple and easy to deal with. I am finding pleasure in doing the homework because it helps me widen my ideas when it comes to classroom management and lesson panning. I found that a Flipped Classroom has been, by far, one of my favorite ideas that I have ever come across. I intend on making my classroom a flipped classroom because I know that as we move forward in education, we must adapt in how our children are learning new material. As for now, I will enjoy what is left of this week.

Freedom in Teaching and Writing “2016”

The second week of January and I have been able to take pride in one huge feat; writing “2016” effectively without any cause for change in the typical mistake of writing the incorrect date, as most of find ourselves doing. This week I have learned how to manage my time and work with copy right in education.

I was concerned in the beginning when it came to the rights of written work. I am glad that as a future educator, the freedom to use just about anything on the internet to teach young minds about the world around them is absolutely fantastic.

I can say that I will forever remember 2016 for the year I learned that I will be able to teach with freedom and technology.

Chaffey College Graduate

On May 21, 2015, I became the first in my family to graduate college. It has been a long journey, but well worth the trial. This is not my only stop. I am attending the University of La Verne in the fall. Today I am relaxing for the first time in 3 years. Steady on my friends. Summer is about to be here soon!
